The Town of Port Hedland is preparing for construction of the iconic South Hedland Integrated Sports Hub to start in 2024.
The Town has marked two key milestones in Stage 1 of the project;
- The development application for construction work has been lodged, and is now available for public feedback.
- A tender for contractors to undertake bulk earthworks has been issued, closing on 4 April 2024.
Stage 1 involves relocating Kevin Scott Oval, to the Western End of Wanangkura Stadium, as well as a new AFL standard oval. There will be supporting amenities including spectator seating, carparking and landscaping.
The first stage also includes construction of a new multi-user sporting pavilion with changerooms, clubrooms, function facilities and umpire and tournament rooms. This work will be contracted through a second tender issued later in the year.
