Milpaku Kuma, which means coming together, is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports and community facility which has been designed to host a variety of events and activities, with a range of purpose built ammenities catering to the diverse range of local sporting and community needs.
This facility has also been built with a number of features and facilities which enables it to serve as a shelter in the event of adverse weather conditions.
The two-storey multi-function centre features a large function space on the first floor which can be divided into two rooms through an operable wall. There are also four community spaces on the ground floor which can be reconfigured into two large rooms as needed.
Additionally, there are two commercial-grade kitchens, shaded outdoor function areas, dedicated parking zones, toilet/shower and changeroom facilities, as well as a range of purpose built rooms and amenities for racecourse activities.
This $19.5 million facility was funded thanks to a $10 million contribution from the Western Australian Government and a $9.5 million commitment from the Town of Port Hedland.
