FILMS AND DOCUMENTARIES - VIDEO STREAMING

Kanopy is a video streaming platform delivering one of the largest collections of indie films, classic cinema, festival and educational documentaries and movies online or through an app.  More than 30,000 films and documentaries are available from top suppliers including BBC, Criterion Collection, Ronin Films and Madman Entertainment.

Once selected, each film may be viewed, paused, finished and rewatched over a 72 hour period before requesting again.  Once you are signed in, you can view up to 4 films or documentaries within a month loan period.  These are updated on the 1st of every month. 

EBOOKS,  EAUDIOBOOKS AND EMAGAZINES

OverDrive-Libby

OverDrive/Libby allows you to download eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines.  There are thousands of choices available.  Sign in by selecting Town of Port Hedland Libraries from the drop-down list and typing in your library card and PIN.  You can borrow books to read on your computer, smartphone, tablet or eBook reader.

There's also the option to download the Libby app for android or Apple devices.

Borrow Box

BorrowBox allows you to browse and borrow bestselling eAudiobooks and eBooks via the BorrowBox app on your device

Once you have downloaded the app, choose Port Hedland Library Service, enter your library card number and pin, and click on sign in.


Hoopla is a web and mobile library media streaming platform launched in 2010 for audio books, comics, e-books, movies, music, and TV. Patrons of a library that supports Hoopla have access to its collection of digital media.

RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN

Busythings is an online learning resource for the early years that includes 115+ fun activities that help children learn important skills in the key learning areas of creative development, problem solving, reasoning, numeracy, communication, language and literacy, and knowledge and understanding of the world.  It covers ages 3-11.  This subscription service has been provided through Better Beginnings.

OverDrive Kid's Reading Room provides a safe and easy browsing experience for children. The eReading Room just shows children's content, which gets kids to the titles they want faster. Kids can browse, sample, place holds and borrow eBooks appropriate for their age range and reading level.

Login by selecting your Town of Port Hedland Libraries from the drop-down list and typing in your library card and PIN.

StoryBox Library opens up access to a range of Australian children's literature.  It connects children with literature through the complementary medium of film, providing you with an interactive experience via a diverse range of storytellers, each sharing past and present book titles.

Scroll down to Select a Library.  Choose State Library of Western Australia from the drop-down menu.  Type in your library card barcode and clck on Log in.

Kanopy Kids

Kanopy Kids is the children's version of Kanopy video streaming.  It includes storytime as well.

LOTE4Kids is a library eResource that provides thousands of picture books in over 60+ World Languages, to allow kids to enjoy books and learn language through the magic of storytelling.

Ancestry.com

Ancestry.com is available on computers from within the libraries.  Find out information on your family history.

Duolingo is a language-learning website and mobile app. Through bite-size lessons, it makes learning another language fun!

The Auslan Signbank is a language resource site for Auslan (Australian Sign Language)

It includes the Auslan dictionary, classes, videos, health and medical signs.
