Nominations are now open for the 2023 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, rewarding and recognising individuals and organisations who have made a notable contribution this year, and / or those who have given outstanding service over a number of years. Nominations are open until Sunday, 8 January 2023. 

Each category winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize!

Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as education; health; fundraising; charitable and voluntary services; business; sport; arts; the environment; social inclusion; or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of our community. Award categories include:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Community Citizen of the Year - Youth (under 25 years)
  • Active Citizenship Award (for a community group or event - group or individual)

The Awards have been running for 20 years. This year, the program welcomes Chris Dawson APM, Governor of Western Australia, as the Patron for the Awards, together with Channel 9's Tracy Vo and 6PR's Steve Mills as Award Ambassadors. 

The Awards presentation morning will be held as part of the Town's Australia Day celebrations in Port Hedland.
