Hedlander memories

Introducing 'Hedlander Memories’ – an engaging compilation of stories from Hedland locals that portray the rich culture, history, and personalities of our unique region. Complete with historic photographs, this book draws from a diverse range of perspectives and voices, where we learn about the fun, sometimes challenging, and always interesting stories of the people who have visited and experienced Hedland life.

The project was conceived through collective discussions during the monthly OWLS (Older Wise Library Seniors) sessions when the attendees all agreed that these anecdotes needed to be captured for future generations. Told over many years, and many cups of tea, they worked together to compile these stories in a way that was interesting and fun, while aiming to recreate the spirit and fond memories of Hedland.

The book will be displayed at the ‘Welcome to Hedland’ event on Friday 12 May at the Town of Port Hedland’s stall. If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, you can do so via the libraries from Monday 15th May.
