Cyclone Veronica Green Waste Clean Up

Published on Monday, 25 March 2019 at 3:45:44 PM

As part of the Town’s efforts in response to Cyclone Veronica, a free residential green waste clean-up will commence on Wednesday, 27 March.

The purpose of this clean-up is to assist residents in removing excess palm fronds, tree loppings, branches and grass clippings from their yards caused by the Cyclone.

Mayor Camilo Blanco encouraged people to allocate time in the coming days to survey their yards for excess green waste.

“I’d like to thank residents of the town for following the warnings and directions issued by DFES and BoM during Cyclone Veronica.

“It’s clear from surveying the town, a large amount of green waste has been generated from the cyclone’s severe wind gusts.

“I would please ask residents to neatly stack green waste on their verge and ensure it does not obstruct footpaths, street lighting, water metres, fencing, driveways, drainage pits or roadways where possible."
