Community members are invited to submit nominations for the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

This is a chance to celebrate the incredible contributions of our local heroes—The people who go above and beyond to create a lasting, positive impact in the community.

This year's award categories are:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (16-30 years)
  • Senior Community Citizen (over 65 years)
  • Active Citizenship (group or event)

Nominations can be made for contributions to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, sports, arts, the environment, social inclusion, or any other area that enhances the wellbeing of the community.

All nominations can be submitted online at citizenshipawards.com.au before 31 October 2024.

Mayor Peter Carter encouraged the local community to take the time to acknowledge the contributions made by their fellow residents.

“What truly makes Port Hedland special is the work and dedication of volunteers and other community minded people,” Mayor Carter said.

“It is important we acknowledge these people and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.”

All award recipients will be announced in early 2025.

The Town of Port Hedland is proud to deliver the Community Citizen of the Year Awards, in partnership with Auspire and Joint Patrons His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM Governor of Western Australia, and Mrs Darrilyn Dawson.
