Home Energy Audit Kits to boost sustainability

Published on Monday, 10 June 2024 at 10:55:44 AM

The Town of Port Hedland has launched a Home Energy Audit Kit in an important step towards enhancing sustainability.

The kit aims to empower users with the tools and knowledge to make their homes more energy-efficient, reduce carbon footprints, and save on utility bills.

There are currently two kits available for residents and businesses to hire from the Town’s Depot in Wedgefield.

The kits are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of technical experience, and are accompanied by an instruction and guide booklet.

“Lowering energy costs across households is a priority for everyone with the increasing cost of living,” Mayor Peter Carter said.

“Through these kits, people will be able to make informed energy decisions, and improvements and take responsibility for the energy efficiency in their homes.”

Each kit includes devices and instructions to help residents and businesses identify energy inefficiencies in their homes. Key components of the kits include:

  • Power-mate meter
  • Generic thermometer
  • Shower timer
  • Infrared thermometer
  • Indoor and outdoor thermometer

“The Town encourages all residents to participate in the program and take the first step towards a more energy-efficient home,” Mayor Carter said.

The kit is available to hire for a period of one week, free of charge.
