Odyssea Music & Arts Journey returns for a second year

Published on Tuesday, 6 August 2024 at 9:42:47 AM

Hedland’s vibrant and diverse music, arts and culture will be celebrated with two weeks of entertainment, live shows and workshops in August as the Odyssea Music and Arts Journey returns for its second year.

The festival kicks off in style on 17 August with the Tunes of the Turf concert at the Milpaku Kuma / Port Hedland Community Centre featuring renowned Australian indie rock acts Jebediah and DICE.

Mayor Peter Carter said the community had craved a live music and arts event and this year’s Odyssea would build on the success of 2023.

“Odyssea was held for the first time last year - this year’s line-up of events will be a collaborative journey driven by the community, for the community,” Mayor Carter said.

“Events such as Odyssea are important in remote areas like Hedland, which are sometimes starved of opportunities for live music and artistic performances.

“There will be a diverse array of events including live music and comedy, interactive workshops and markets. I encourage everyone to come along and support the local and visiting artists,” Mayor Carter said.

Odyssea has been made possible thanks to support from Principal Partner BHP and sponsor Horizon Power.

BHP General Manager Rail, Warren Wellbeloved, said: “The Odyssea Music and Arts Journey event is a fantastic way to bring our community together through music, art and culture.”

“Events like this make Hedland a vibrant place to live and work, so we are thrilled to help bring it to life through our three-year event partnership with the Town of Port Hedland.”
