A revived line-up will be the feature of a jam-packed fortnight of events for Odyssea 2024.
Tunes on the Turf is the headline concert for the Odyssea festival and will feature renowned Australian indie rock act Jebediah and WA alt-rockers DICE for a performance under the stars at the Milpaku Kuma / Port Hedland Community Centre on 17 August.
Jebediah and DICE replace Eskimo Joe and Dan Sultan, who are now unable to perform at Odyssea due to circumstances beyond their control.
Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley says the band is disappointed it won’t be able to headline Odyssea.
“It is really unfortunate and we’re sorry to our many Pilbara fans that we won’t be able to play Odyssea, but hopefully we can work out something in the future,” he said.
Jebediah lead vocalist Kevin Mitchell performed at the inaugural Odyssea festival as part of 27 Club.
“I had a blast playing Odyssea last year and can’t wait to get back to headline with Jebediah,” Mitchell said.
“It’s awesome to be able to headline festivals like Odyssea which give isolated, regional areas like Hedland access to live music.”
Odyssea will feature a huge array of ticketed and free events for people of all ages at venues across Port Hedland.
“The Town is committed to providing high quality events, and the Hedland community has been clear that they want a live-music experience,” Mayor Peter Carter said.
“While it is disappointing Eskimo Joe and Dan Sultan can no longer play, the Town is excited to have secured the new line-up for what should be a ripping headline concert.”
