The 2024 Town of Port Hedland and BHP Community Sports Awards provide the perfect opportunity to shine a light on local sports heroes and groups who deserve recognition.
The prestigious annual awards celebrate the incredible talent, drive, and dedication of sporting individuals and teams across Hedland, and nominations are officially now open.
The categories up for grabs include Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Junior Sportsman of the Year, Official/Umpire of the Year, Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Service to Sport Award and Sporting Group of the Year.
In addition to being awarded for their achievements and contributions to our sports community, winners will also receive cash prizes, thanks to the generous sponsors.
There is a $1000 cash prize for individual winners, and a $2000 cash prize for Sporting Group of the Year.
Set to be a great evening, sporting groups and individuals are invited to attend and showcase their support for other sporting stars in the community.
Mayor Peter Carter emphasised the vital role sport plays in enhancing liveability in Hedland.
“Sport is the backbone of Hedland’s inclusive and vibrant community,” he said.
“These awards not only celebrate our sporting successes but also highlight the importance of promoting positive health, well-being, and social connections.”
