After years of anticipation, the iconic Spoilbank Marina is ready to open, marking a new chapter in Port Hedland's development.
The marina development includes public recreation and event spaces, a state-of-the-art fishing jetty, fish cleaning facilities and a waterfront promenade, creating a vibrant new amenity for the Hedland community and visitors to enjoy.
The $187.5 million project is funded by the WA Government, the Town of Port Hedland, BHP, and delivered by Pilbara Ports.
To celebrate this exciting milestone, the Town of Port Hedland invites everyone to the official opening of the Spoilbank Marina on Friday, 29 November.
Attendees are encouraged to bring down picnic rugs to enjoy a relaxing evening by the water's edge and soak up all the entertainment on offer.
Highlights include live music, local food vendors, a public art tour, a licensed pop-up bar for 18+, and a plethora of entertainment for the kids.
Mayor Peter Carter said the Spoilbank Marina would become a central hub for community gatherings, leisure, and tourism, enhancing Hedland's liveability.
"The Town is committed to working with other industries and businesses to develop infrastructure and projects that align with our community's needs and help create economic growth for our region", he said.
"This project demonstrates how crucial it is to invest in infrastructure that progresses the future of Hedland and makes our town a more attractive place to live, work, and play."
Festivities begin at 4:30pm, with the official unveiling by the Premier of Western Australia, Hon. Roger Cook at 5:30pm.
The event is free and family friendly. To register your interest, head to the official Facebook event here.
