West Australian Ballet will be bringing their regional tour to Port Hedland on Wednesday, 20 March for a gala evening of artistic excellence and world class ballet performance.
From artistic director Aurelien Scannella, the show will feature a collection of classical and neo classical works, such as The Nutcracker, Tarentella and Le Corsaire, as well as the contemporary works Reincarnation, Les Indomptés and Ballet 101.
The stage will be set in the Civic Centre Gardens against the backdrop of the Pilbara sunset.
The gates and bar will open at 6.00pm, with the show starting at 7.00pm.
Mayor Camilo Blanco said the tour expanded Hedland’s Cultural repertoire in a unique location.
“As the first ballet company formed in Australia still in existence today, we are fortunate to host West Australian Ballet for this one of a kind show.
“We were lucky enough to have dancers from the Company come to Hedland last year, facilitating a number of engaging ballet workshops for our young people.
“This show brings together diverse ballet styles from different eras, offering a cultural experience to locals which rivals events in major metropolitan centres.
“People will be able to witness the finest talent in the industry perform in an outdoor location, something which is rare and not to be missed.
“There will also be gourmet antipasto and dessert picnic boxes available for purchase, as well as food vans on the night to enjoy.
“This show is family friendly and perfect for all ages, so I hope as many people as possible get the opportunity to join us on Wednesday, 20 March.”
