Water Corporation will be conducting overnight valve upgrades in Port Hedland, which means there will be a night-time water outage on Monday 27 November 2023.
To avoid major disruption to your water supply during the day and to conduct work safely, this work will be undertaken overnight.
When?
The water supply interruption will be Monday 27 November 2023, from 9:00pm until Tuesday 28 November 6:00am.
During the water outage:
- Don’t run water using appliances during an outage. Appliances that typically need water includes evaporative air conditioners, dishwashers and washing machines. If you have an electric hot water system or automatic sprinklers due to turn on, we also recommend you turn off its power supply.
- Please note that although some residents will experience a complete water outage, others may only experience reduced pressure or water discolouration.
Discoloured water
- You may also notice discoloured water in the days following the outage. A change in the direction that water flows through pipes can stir up sediment, which makes the water look discoloured. Please be assured the water is still safe to use.
If you experience discoloured water:
- Run the outside garden tap at the front of your property for a few minutes, until the water clears.
- Repeat the step above for an outside tap at the rear of your property.
- Do not use washing machines, dishwashers or other water using appliances until the water is clear. If clothing is stained during washing, leave the clothes immersed in water and call the Water Corporation on 13 13 75.
