The Town of Port Hedland’s has strengthened its commitment to local businesses by signing onto the Small Business Friendly Local Government Alliance.
Mayor Peter Carter said signing onto the alliance was an important step in the Town building strong relationships with local businesses.
“The Town is committed to helping small and medium-sized businesses grow and thrive,” Mayor Carter said.
“Having a resilient and thriving business sector is key part of increasing liveability and making Hedland a more attractive place to work and live.”
The Small Business Friendly Local Government Alliance program is a State Government initiative designed to encourage and foster better relationships between local governments and small business.
Mayor Carter said the Town was currently implementing a range of initiatives to better support local businesses.
These include regular face-to-face meetings with small and medium businesses and enhancing engagement with local businesses with regards to the Town’s procurement processes.
“We also have the Economic Development and Diversification Fund which offers two funding streams for business development and expansion," Mayor Carter said.
“Businesses are encouraged to meet with the Town if they haven’t already to discuss programs and projects currently underway that aim to support them.”
