Town looking for operator to take over much-loved venue in South

The Town of Port Hedland is creating an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial community group or business to establish a new venture at the former South Hedland Bowls and Tennis Club.

The Expressions of Interest for proposals at the site on Hamilton Road in South Hedland are open until 4pm on 24 January, 2025.

Mayor Peter Carter said the Town would consider essential criteria when assessing the applications including financial viability, community benefit, proponent experience and expertise, and diversity and inclusion.

“The South Hedland Bowls and Tennis Club has been a much-loved venue and we are really keen to see it reopen to the public,” Mayor Carter said.

“This is a great opportunity for a community group or non-for-profit to establish a new venture, or for a commercial business operator to flourish in a popular area.”

The South Hedland Bowls and Tennis Club closed to the public in December 2023 and the Town took formal possession of the site in April this year.

The Town has undertaken routine maintenance on the site over the past few months.
