Councillor Sven Arentz has officially tendered his resignation as councillor for the Town of Port Hedland.
Cr Arentz was first elected in October 2023 with his term due to expire in October 2027.
“This has been an incredibly difficult decision and not one that I have come to lightly,” Cr Arentz said.
“Fulfilling the duties of a Councillor requires a substantial commitment and, despite my best efforts, I have come to the conclusion that I am not able to commit the full attention that the role deserves while also juggling personal life, career and health.
“This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I will treasure the knowledge I’ve gained, the people I’ve worked with and the contributions we have made to the community."
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter thanked Cr Arentz for his commitment to the community.
“It has been a privilege to have Sven’s insight and dedication as part of our Council team,” Mayor Carter said.
“Sven has brought passion and a strong community focus to his role. On behalf of the Council, I thank him for his service and wish him and his family well for the next chapter.
The Town is liaising with the Western Australian Electoral Commission for further advice on the Council position.
