Councillor Tim Turner has officially tendered his resignation as councillor for the Town of Port Hedland.
Cr Turner was first elected in October 2020 and served as Deputy Mayor from 2021 until 2023.
“I have thought long and hard about this decision and deeply regret that I am no longer willing to commit myself to the Town of Port Hedland council,” Cr Turner said.
“I am dedicated to seeing positive community outcomes and feel that I am no longer able to achieve the results I strive for as an elected representative of the community.
“I am thankful to the Port Hedland community for the opportunity over the last four years and I wish the Town of Port Hedland all the best.”
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter thanked Cr Turner for his service to the community.
“The Council has been fortunate to have had Cr Turner’s community experience as part of the decision-making team,” Mayor Carter said.
“It has been a privilege working alongside Cr Turner and I appreciate his decision to step away from Council at this time.
“As a Council, we have acknowledged we need to improve how we work as a team,” Mayor Carter said.
“We have begun the journey to address some of these challenges and I have faith that we will continue to see improvements.”
