The Town of Port Hedland is continuing its commitment to revitalising the South Hedland Town Centre through the 2025 South Hedland Public Art Project.
Following the success of the 2023 Street Art Festival which included the creation of 14 vibrant murals, this year’s project has once again seen the area come to life through collaboration and artistic expression.
Spinifex Hill Studio facilitated the creative workshops with Hedland youth, alongside returning mural artist from the 2023 Street Art Festival, John Herne from Honey's Mural Co.
Mayor Peter Carter said the project was another step towards making South Hedland a thriving hub for creativity and community connection.
“We’re excited the legacy of public art has continued in South Hedland, providing young people with opportunities to contribute their voices and talents through a creative process.”
“This project not only beautifies our town but strengthens community pride and connection” Mayor Carter said.
The project provided young people with access to creative opportunities and collaboration, whilst helping to create a liveable, vibrant and inclusive community.
