The Town of Port Hedland is currently undertaking a review of the Visitor Centre and related visitor services.

As part of the South Hedland Place Plan, trials have been conducted as part of a long-term vision to revitalise the South Hedland Town Centre. The community is now being encouraged to provide feedback on the trial and what permanent changes should be made.

The Town of Port Hedland is inviting people to share their thoughts on how Port Hedland's iconic Koombana Lookout should be refurbished. 

In accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995 (the Act), the Town is required to publish its Objects and Reasons for implementing Differential Rates.

The Town is developing a Public Access Way (PAW) Strategy to help determine which PAWs should remain open, which should be closed and which require maintenance or upgrades.

The Town's draft Coastal Foreshore Management Plan (CFMP) is available for public feedback from Wednesday 24 February until Wednesday 24 March 2021.

The Town of Port Hedland invites local community groups, businesses and community members to comment on the Town's draft Public Art Strategy: a framework to achieve a sense of identity and belonging through public art.

We'd like you to have a say on the proposed Town of Port Hedland Waste Local Law 2020. At the May Ordinary Council Meeting, Council endorsed advertising the proposed law for a period of six weeks to obtain public feedback. The key change between the 2018 and 2020 law is the addition of provisions related to recycling. 

Hedland community members are invited to have their say in the Hedland Community Road Safety Group Survey, for the purpose of gauging local road user attitudes and behaviours.

If you complete the survey, you will go into the draw to win a $200 ARB voucher.

According to the WA Road Safety Commission, there have been 30 fatalities on regional WA roads so far in 2020. In 2019, a total of 99 fatalities were recorded.

In accordance with Town of Port Hedland policy 12/010 Naming of Roads & Places, the Town shall notify the community and seek feedback on proposed name changes to public parks in the LGA.

At the request of Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders, it is proposed to rename Port Hedland's Leap Park to Strike Park, to recognise the significance of the site during the 1946 strike for fair wages and working conditions for Aboriginal pastoral workers.

This strike is regarded as one of the longest industrial strikes in Australia, and a landmark in Aboriginal Australians fighting for their human rights, cultural rights and Native Title. 

Public consultation is now open for the proposed closure of the Powell Road level crossing, located between Hamilton Road and Dalton Road. The application has been submitted to the Town of Port Hedland by BHP.

The Town of Port Hedland's Community Safety Plan 2019-2022 is now open for public comment, a comprehensive plan which puts community at the centre of current and future safety initiatives.

The 2018-2028 Draft Strategic Community Plan has been released by The Town of Port Hedland for community consultation. The Plan, which identifies the Town’s vision and priorities for the next ten years, has a strong emphasis on the community’s aspirations, priorities and vision for the future.
